Dana White didn’t have much to say about the release of Farid Basharat despite his lengthy winning streak.
It is well known that UFC CEO White is no longer the man making the final decisions on who stays on the roster and who doesn’t. However, he is still the public-facing head of the company and as a result was asked about the strange decision to cut Basharat while on a 7-0 streak in the promotion.
The Afghan-born Brit had even climbed to as high as number eight in the bantamweight media rankings before being unceremoniously let go. And unlike the infamous Shane Burgos situation in 2022, White seemed to agree with the decision to see the back of Basharat.
It has become standard fare for Dana White to essentially brush off any sort of question about topics that are even vaguely controversial following an event. He stuck to that same script after UFC Edmonton, offering little in the way of new information.

“If you're 16-0 with seven wins in the UFC and don't get re-signed, there's definitely a reason.”

Asked about the decision to get rid of Farid Basharat despite him being on a lengthy winning streak and never really courting controversy, White remained coy. He teased that there was potentially more to the story, without adding anything much else or being hit with a follow-up.
“Yeah, I think that when guys’ contracts are up, I mean, this isn’t the first time this has happened,” White explained. “And either guys aren’t good to deal with, and the matchmakers don’t want to deal with them. Which could be turning down fights or whatever the reasoning is.
