Inter have suffered another injury setback ahead of Sunday’s Serie A clash against Fiorentina, with Luis Henrique ruled out after picking up a muscular problem in training. According to Calciomercato.it, the Brazilian winger underwent medical examinations at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano on Friday after reporting discomfort during the Nerazzurri’s preparations for the weekend fixture.

Inter subsequently confirmed that tests revealed a strain to the long adductor muscle in his left thigh. The reigning Serie A champions have not provided a definitive recovery timeline, stating that medical staff will reassess his condition in the coming days.

Henrique will therefore miss Sunday’s encounter at San Siro, adding to Cristian Chivu’s growing list of absentees at a particularly demanding stage of the season. The former Marseille winger’s absence comes shortly after Inter finally secured their first Champions League victory of the campaign against Shakhtar Donetsk.

However, Chivu must now reshuffle his options once again as the San Siro giants prepare for a congested run of fixtures across domestic and European competitions.

Injuries pile up for Inter

Lautaro Martinez, Benjamin Pavard and Curtis Jones have also encountered fitness problems in recent weeks. Meanwhile, John Stones remains another notable absentee. The mounting injury concerns leave Chivu with fewer options as Inter look to maintain their momentum in the league.

The Nerazzurri face Fiorentina on Sunday before travelling to Venezia for a midweek fixture, with the Milan derby against the Rossoneri looming on October 31. Henrique’s recovery will be monitored closely, although Inter will hope to avoid rushing the winger back and risking a more serious injury.

With Henrique out of contention, Andy Diouf is likely to start on the right wing when Inter take on Fiorentina tomorrow.
