Besiktas fans spotted marching through Glasgow before cops attacked

Video footage has captured the moment football fans, believed to be Besiktas supporters, were filmed marching through Glasgow amid a disturbance in the city centre.

Areas of the city centre, including Douglas Street, were locked down by cops on Wednesday night after two police officers on patrol were attacked by a "large group of men" on Sauchiehall Street.

According to Police Scotland, bottles were thrown at the pair and one of them was thrown to the ground. Thankfully, they did not require treatment.

Footage shared with Glasgow Live shows fans what appear to be Besiktas hooligans marching through the city centre, chanting, and surrounded by officers.

One eyewitness said the trouble started on Sauchiehall Street before it congregated on nearby Douglas Street.

It comes as the Turkish club is set to face Celtic in the Europa League at Parkhead this evening.

Images also show a large police presence in the area near Holland Street, as emergency services dealt with the incident.

The scenes were condemned by a top cop, who blasted the group and said their actions were "unacceptable" as investigations remain ongoing.

Chief Superintendent David Robertson said: "Around 9.15pm on Wednesday, 4 November, 2026, we received a report of a disturbance involving a large group of men on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow.

"Two officers on patrol were attacked during the incident, with bottles being thrown and one knocked to the ground. They did not require medical treatment.

"This violence is unacceptable and will not be tolerated, being assaulted is not part of the job.

“Our enquiries are ongoing.”
