Good news/Bad news for Matthias Jaissle with two in two out for Fulham looking on the cards

Matthias Jaissle hasn’t had the best of luck with his Newcastle United squad when it comes to availability.

The opening months of the 2026-27 season seeing a very busy treatment room.

The home game against Hull City ahead of the September international break reached a peak, when we saw nine Newcastle United players unavailable.

Since then things have improved slowly on the fitness and availably front.

However, for Monday’s defeat against Everton there were still at least four Newcastle United players unavailable to be considered for the starting eleven.

As we now look forward to Fulham away ahead of the next international break, it appears to be a double case of both good news and bad news.

An exclusive in the media has now revealed that two Newcastle United players are set to return to availability against Fulham for Matthias Jaissle and that indeed it has been a safety first exercise. As the pair could have potentially returned for Everton at home but the club looking to ensure they are back in the right condition before risking them.

Craig Hope has revealed that Matias Fernandez-Pardo is set to return on Saturday. The Belgian international had been suffering from a bad virus and had been back for only one training session before that defeat to Everton on Monday. Hope says that MFP was desperate to return for that match but was told by staff that he needed more training in order to be ready to play again.

The man from The Mail says that it is a similar story for Lewis Miley. Recovering from a glute issue he also felt ready to return on Monday but Matthias Jaissle and the medical staff looking after him, delaying his return until this Fulham match as well.

As two become available it could be at least two dropping out of the matchday squad.

Jacob Ramsey is guaranteed to do so after his two yellow cards in swift succession added up to a red on Monday.

The Mail report though states that Joelinton could also miss Fulham. The Brazilian international felt some muscle discomfort after Monday’s game and a decision will be taken depending on his situation ahead of Saturday. There is hope that the issue is related to a severe case of cramp but with Joelinton’s history of muscle strains, including his hamstring, no chances will be taken as he only returned from a thigh injury three weeks ago after having not been available for any competitive matches since late last season.
