All Blacks star Jordie Barrett has been stood down with immediate effect after failing a head injury assessment during New Zealand's 43-21 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield.
The 29-year-old centre was forced off following a collision with Scotland's Blair Kinghorn during Saturday's Nations Championship clash.
Head coach Dave Rennie has now confirmed Barrett failed his HIA and will enter concussion protocols, leaving his involvement against Wales next weekend in serious doubt.
And the bad news did not stop there, with superstar winger Will Jordan also suffering a hamstring injury.
The update was first reported by RugbyPass journalist Henry Lee, who revealed that Rennie had confirmed both injury concerns following the final whistle.
"Will tweaked his hammy and we will assess that," Rennie said.
"So I'm not sure of the severity of it. Geordie failed his assessment, so I'm not sure whether he'll be available this week, but we'll get a bit of clarity."
Barrett must now undergo further medical checks before he can be cleared to return.
Under World Rugby's concussion protocols, players who fail an initial HIA cannot return to the same match and must undergo follow-up assessments.
It leaves Rennie facing an anxious wait before naming his team for Cardiff.
