Rangers tormentor declares Dundee don't fear anyone as he reveals unseen dressing room 'attitude'

Callum Jones says Dundee don’t fear going toe-to-toe with anyone in the Scottish Premiership.

The Dens Park side cemented their place in the top four with a 2-2 draw against Rangers on Saturday night.

Jones pounced on a Dan Neil mistake to grab the Dark Blues’ equaliser and felt they merited their point.

The Welsh midfielder insists Steven Pressley’s side are full of belief this season, despite a spate of injuries.

And he says they’re comfortable competing with the league’s big boys.

Jones said: “We have got belief within the group and we went into the game on Saturday confident that we could get a result.

“I wouldn't say we're disappointed with a draw. But we don't go into any game fearing anyone now.

“The belief and the togetherness is really high.

“There’s a real grit within the group. I got cramp after 88 minutes last week and the gaffer said: ’No, you’re alright’.

“We’re a fit team and that can cause teams problems late in games when it gets down to the nitty gritty.

“So the mood in the camp is great.

“But if you get carried away with yourself, that’s when bad things start happening.

“We are a small squad at the minute but we’ve got boys coming back so we are only going to improve.”

Dundee led Gers through Bradley Fink’s opener but were pegged back by Derek McInnes’ side.

Badredine Bouanani and Nico Raskin strikes put the visitors 2-1 up before Jones levelled with a cool finish.

The former Hull City man says Dundee’s players are now thriving under Pressley’s methods - and picked out on-loan Swiss striker Fink as one of their main weapons, along with partner Ash Hay up front.

Jones said: “The boys up top complement each other. I get on really well with Finky.

“He is character, he’s great with both feet and he’s a big boy. He causes a lot of teams problems and he is good at most things.

“He’s probably an all-round striker, really and that is showing with his goals.

“(Playing two up front) is good for them. Maybe not so much for the midfielders as we have to run a bit more!

“But we’re such a threat. It’s good when we go forward now because we have an out-ball and we know they’ll hold it up for us.

“When it’s only one, sometimes centre-backs can bully him. But two can pin teams back and it’s good to watch.

“Our attitude going into games is the same this season as it was last year.

“It’s just that we’ve spent more time with the manager.

“The core group of players is the same and we understand now what he expects on and off the ball.

“It takes a bit of getting used to but we understand what he wants, it’s clear.”

Jones grabbed his first goal of the season against Gers and now wants more.

He even had to usher Hay out of the way before scoring after he’d robbed Neil.

The Scouser said: “I’d love to score every week but it’s not easy! It’s the hardest thing in the game.

“I’m playing a different role this season but I’ll try to make the box when I can.

“I would never have let Ash take that off me. Especially not him!”
