Arsenal have a three-point lead in the Premier League title race on the eve of the international break

Arsenal are three points clear at the top of the Premier League after their 1-0 win over Liverpool. Kai Havertz's first-half strike was the difference as Mikel Arteta's side earned their first triumph at Anfield in 14 years.

With Manchester City suffering back-to-back top-flight defeats, their latest at home to Brighton & Hove Albion, it allowed the Premier League champions to capitalise and steal a march at the summit.

The Gunners have taken a huge leap already in the title race after following their rivals in toppling Liverpool at Anfield. The defensive display from Arsenal will go under the radar despite reducing Andoni Iraola's side to no shots on target.

On the display, Arteta said: “So happy, so proud, full of energy. What can I say - it’s a proud moment for everybody attached with the football club.

"It’s been 14 years waiting for this moment, and we did it in very special circumstances after the defeat against Fleetwood in a way we didn’t deserve four days ago.

"Now having to come to Anfield, making sure everybody is convinced, prepared and ready to navigate a football match, that is going to have very difficult moments, some big opportunities and when they come, you need to be ready to grab them. What the boys have done is remarkable.”

Kai Havertz and Declan Rice combined for the only goal of the game against Liverpool.

Arsenal return to the Emirates Stadium where they face stubborn, newly-promoted side Hull City. It is a crucial encounter in the jostle for Premier League supremacy as they could pick up a huge, momentum-boosting win on the eve of the international break.

For City, it's a tricky trip to the City Ground (5.30pm kick-off) to take on Oliver Glasner's side. But Nottingham Forest will there for the taking for them after losing four of their last five.
