Who will start for Manchester United against Leeds? Here’s our projected lineup and the latest injury and availability news ahead of Sunday’s match.
Manchester United travels to Elland Road on Sunday, Oct. 18 to take on Leeds United with several key players carrying injuries.
The Red Devils enter the weekend in 13th place, winning just one time in their last five league matches. They'll be looking to rebound from a 2-0 loss to Atlético Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Michael Carrick will still be missing the injured Benjamin Šeško, while Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw will face late fitness tests to be available for selection.
Here is how Manchester United could line up against Leeds United:
Carrick has a bit of a selection headache at the left back spot with two of his natural options in Shaw and Patrick Dorgu either unavailable or in doubt. Noussair Mazraoui, who is coming back from an injury himself, could fill in along the back line.
While left back is a worry, the biggest question mark is the status of United's young star in midfield. Mainoo picked up a knock in the 1-1 draw against Tottenham last weekend and missed the midweek trip to Madrid.
Carrick admitted on Friday that it'll be a race against time to see if the England international will be available to play against Leeds. "We'll see on Luke and Kobbie," said the United manager. "Benjamin's kind of still undergoing a couple of checks, before we update on timelines or everything, we're just trying to be clear with what that looks like."
