Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has undergone successful surgery on a fractured jaw following a clash of heads during a 2-0 win at Everton.
The Argentina international collided with Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite as the pair challenged for a cross at the Hill Dickinson stadium on Saturday.
Martinez was treated on the pitch for eight minutes and eventually stretchered off to a waiting ambulance.
The 34-year-old posted on X on Sunday that the "operation went well" and vowed that he would be back "in a few weeks".
Chelsea also confirmed in a statement: "Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has undergone successful surgery on a fractured jaw.
"Everyone at Chelsea wishes Emi a speedy recovery and will support him throughout."
Martinez earlier played his part in Chelsea's win that also earned the team their first Premier League clean sheet in nine months.
