France officially call up Manchester United star for remaining 2026 Nations League fixtures

Zinedine Zidane has officially named his France squad for November’s Nations League fixtures, with Manchester United once again represented in the legendary midfielder’s plans.

The 1998 World Cup winner was appointed France manager on 28 July 2026, replacing Didier Deschamps after his 14-year reign.

Zidane enjoyed an extraordinary playing career, winning the World Cup and Euro 2000 before becoming one of football’s most successful managers.

After assisting Carlo Ancelotti and managing Real Madrid’s reserves, he took charge of the senior side in 2016 and won three consecutive Champions League titles.

He returned to management with France after five years away, beginning his tenure with a 1-0 victory over Turkey in September.

His side have since remained unbeaten across four Nations League matches, collecting ten points from a possible twelve.

Meanwhile, United have endured a frustrating campaign under Michael Carrick, with defensive mistakes contributing to an alarming run of results.

Tuesday’s dramatic 3-2 Champions League comeback against AS Roma finally offered hope, particularly through an improved second-half performance.

One United defender has nevertheless provided encouraging signs amid the difficulties, producing an accomplished display against the Italian visitors.

France officially name squad for November fixtures

As announced on France’s official Instagram account, Leny Yoro has been selected for the remaining Nations League group matches against Italy on 12 November and Turkey on 15 November.

The 20-year-old received his first senior call-up in October after Ibrahima Konate withdrew through injury.

Further defensive absences subsequently opened the door to a starting debut against Belgium.

Yoro impressed in the 4-1 victory, winning all four ground duels and five aerial contests.

French media praised his performance, with L’Equipe awarding him 7/10.

Despite being a natural centre-back, Carrick has increasingly deployed Yoro at right-back.

Against Roma, he completed 89% of his passes, registered four interceptions and three clearances, won both aerial duels and was not dribbled past.

His latest international selection represents another encouraging development amid United’s defensive struggles.
