The NASCAR Truck Series competed at Talladega Superspeedway and it was a chaotic event. With three races left in the Chase, drivers and teams were faced with unpredictable racing and tire issues. At the end of the day, only one driver could enter victory lane, and it was a competitor who is slated to join the Truck Series in 2027.
Sammy Smith and the No. 7 team for Spire Motorsports won Friday's race at Talladega, earning their first victory of the 2027 Truck Series season. Smith was able to pull off a late pass on Ty Majeski, leading to his first career Truck Series victory.
It was a great win for Smith, who will drive the No. 15 truck full-time for TRICON Garage during the 2027 Truck Series season. Meanwhile, Kaden Honeycutt extended his lead in the Chase to 43 points over Layne Riggs with two races remaining in 2026.
