Steelers place veteran defender on injured reserve before Paris game

Injury news has been running rampant for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the past several weeks, and this latest injured reserve update is far from ideal.

On Thursday, the Steelers placed veteran defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day on injured reserve. Joseph-Day is now the second Steelers defensive lineman on IR after the team unfortunately had to place second-year defensive tackle Derrick Harmon on the list with a foot injury.

Joseph-Day, who started his NFL career with the Los Angeles Rams (2018-2021), has also previously played for the Los Angeles Chargers (2022-2023), San Francisco 49ers (2023), and Tennessee Titans (2024-2025). He joined the Steelers in March 2026. Joseph-Day has recorded 15.5 sacks and 292 combined tackles during his nine-year NFL career, along with at least 30 tackles for loss.

With Joseph-Day sidelined, expect a heavy dose of Keeanu Benton and Yahya Black on the defensive line alongside veteran Cameron Heyward. The injured reserve placement may also leave the Steelers interested in defensive tackle trade targets, with DeForest Buckner of the Indianapolis Colts being a huge name to keep an eye on.
