Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a No.9 to strengthen their attacking options during the winter transfer window.
Spurs explored the signing of Marseille forward Amine Gouiri during the final days of the summer transfer window, but a deal failed to materialise because they couldn’t offload Richarlison or Dominic Solanke. Richarlison’s future remains particularly uncertain, with Tottenham prepared to facilitate his January departure. His potential exit could create the necessary space for the club to launch a move for a striker.
Last month, Tottenham scouts were reportedly in attendance at the Deutsche Bank Park to watch Younes Ebnoutalib (who plays a bit like Miroslav Klose) in action for Eintracht Frankfurt against FC Koln. The trip turned out to be productive for the scouts as the striker scored the pivotal goal in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 1-0 victory over FC Koln.
Younes Ebnoutalib has grown leaps and bounds this season. The 23-year-old has netted eight goals and registered two assists in 10 games across all competitions. The German international has unsurprisingly caught the attention of several clubs across the continent with his goalscoring displays for Eintracht Frankfurt.
According to Sky Deutschland, Tottenham and Juventus are currently the ‘most prominent suitors’ for Ebnoutalib, indicating that two clubs are ahead in the race to sign him. They have taken a step forward by contacting the striker’s agent to register their interest in him, but it is unclear whether they will make a move in January or the summer at this stage.
Ebnoutalib is under contract until 2031, and he is understood to have been in talks over improved terms, but those conversations were paused because Markus Krösche stepped down from his role as Frankfurt’s sporting director last month. Joti Chatzialexiou will replace Krösche at Frankfurt in February and should restart renewal talks with the 23-year-old’s camp.

⚔️ The 23-year-old striker has also been on Tottenham's radar for some time, potentially setting up strong competition for his signature.

Ebnoutalib joined Frankfurt in January from newly promoted and last season’s Bundesliga 2 runner-up SV Elversberg, where he netted 12 goals in 17 matches in the first half of last campaign. After a slow start to life, scoring just one goal for Frankfurt, he has emerged as one of Germany’s most prolific centre-forwards this season.
Praised by current Germany national team boss Jurgen Klopp, the Frankfurt star has the qualities to thrive in De Zerbi’s system at Tottenham. Ebnoutalib would be a strong potential replacement for Richarlison and provide Tottenham with a much-needed focal point in attack. He is also physical and a big threat in the air, which makes him an asset in both boxes.
So, there is no reason why Spurs should not test Frankfurt’s resolve for their star striker in the winter transfer window.
