Adeeko’s excellent first-time finish six minutes into the second period sent the vocal travelling support into ecstasy and sealed a second win at Highbury this campaign for Dale, following their success in the league back in late September.
The hosts created the first clear opening of the game when striker Ronan Coughlan found space in the box but could only blaze a shot harmlessly over Sam Waller’s goal.
Rochdale then took the lead after 23 minutes. Some slick one-touch football saw captain Harvey Gilmour combine with Charlie Tasker to set up Luke Hannant, who tapped in a neat first-time finish at the far post past Jay Lynch.
Fleetwood pressed for an equaliser in the second half and went close when Harrison Neal’s effort from outside the box had to be gathered at the second attempt by Waller.
The Cod Army levelled things up going into the last quarter of normal time thanks to a Coughlan penalty after Aaron Loupalo-Bi was hauled to the ground by Kaiden Wilson.
Both teams went close in extra time before Adeeko’s winner, with Dale sub Bryant Bilongo failing to convert Tasker’s cross before Danny Andrew stung the palms of Waller with a well-struck free-kick.
