Folkestone made it three home wins in seven days in all competitions as they eased past Farnborough in National League South on Saturday.
Having ended a winless run with last weekend’s 2-1 league triumph over strugglers AFC Totton before a 3-1 Kent Senior Cup success against rivals Dover in midweek, midfielder Harvey Kedwell broke the deadlock.
In-form striker Bobby Kelman was on target, too, as it ended 2-0 on a damp and dismal day at Cheriton Road while No.1 Ted Collins also kept a much-needed clean sheet.
Summing up just how bad the wet and windy conditions were, the visitors got the action under way as they hammered the ball straight into touch from kick-off in rugby union-style.
Folkestone’s first opening came in the seventh minute when stand-in skipper Liam Smith saw his left-wing delivery flash across goal.
Midway through the first half, full-back Ryan Jackson - another from the visitors’ ex-Gillingham contingent - saw his right-wing cross flash across goal to no avail at the other end.
But the hosts were gifted the lead on 26 minutes in front of an attendance that was announced as 602.
A back-pass sold Boro’s debutant goalkeeper Liam Hall short and, although he just about beat one of the hosts' forwards to the loose ball, it only fell as far as midfielder Kedwell, who opened his club account, drilling into the vacant net from long range.
Spencer Day’s men were becoming the makings of their own downfall as an indirect free-kick was awarded in the penalty box, which came to nothing, after an away player had passed back to Hall.
Folkestone centre-back Jamie Fielding then met Ben Mason’s 30th-minute corner but was denied by a fantastic save from 21-year-old Hall.
As the contest headed towards half-time, midfielder Josh Keeya found himself in a great position, only to drag wide of goalkeeper Collins’ left-hand post.
Folkestone’s fans felt defender Jaden Warner should have been sent off after he hauled the recalled forward Joe Pigott to ground. But referee Jack Bloxham decided to just book Warner.
Pigott missed a gilt-edged chance from virtually the penalty spot with 56 minutes played when he blazed over Donell Thomas’ lay-off.
Just a minute later, the hosts doubled their tally, though, with Kelman able to stab into the bottom corner for his third goal from three league fixtures since his arrival after more good work by playmaker Thomas.
Boro - somehow - wasted the opportunity to set up a grandstand finish with 14 minutes left.
Visiting substitutes Kasim Aidoo and Mason Bloomfield combined but the latter could only hit the right-hand post from the former's left-wing delivery. Four minutes later, Ollie Dewsbury whipped a free-kick inches wide of Collins’ left-hand post.
The same player threatened with two minutes to play but saw his low drive get tipped wide by Collins, as Folkestone edged towards a first league clean sheet since August 31 when they saw off Hemel Hempstead 2-0 at home, while substitute Alejandro Machado failed to hit the target at the other end.
But the hosts had already done enough to secure another three points.
Invicta manager Jay Saunders had made one change from the team that beat AFC Totton as Pigott came in for Aaron Cosgrave up front.
Ex-Gills captain Max Ehmer and fellow defender Sam Okoye, formerly at Dartford, were among Farnborough’s starting line-up while newly-signed keeper Hall also started.
Folkestone are at Tonbridge Angels for a derby on Tuesday.
