Xabi Alonso has given an update on Moises Caicedo after the midfielder missed an open training session earlier this week.
“Well, he was after the last game he had little problems, so we expect to check tomorrow different situation, and Moi is one of them,” Alonso said this afternoon.
Pushed for more detail on whether this was a recurrence of the midfielder’s previous calf issue, he gave a little more information:
“It’s a discomfort more than the calf.”
Well, it’s not exactly comforting, but it could certainly be a lot worse. Alonso is very deliberate in giving nothing away, so it’s hard to tell whether this is just the sort of minor discomfort footballers deal with all the time, or if it’s actually going to be enough to keep him out of the game.
Romeo Lavia, off the back of completing two 90 minute games in a row last week, is ready for action if needed.
Alonso also spoke about Emi Martinez and gave some hints that he could make an unexpected early return to Chelsea’s team this weekend.
Cole Palmer was left out of the England squad, and Thomas Tuchel was pretty clear on his reasoning why he chose not to pick the Chelsea talisman.
Liam Rosenior has finally spoken about his time at Chelsea, and he was clear on the idea that he was unfairly treated by the media.
