Chelsea are “open” to loaning out Jamie Gittens when the transfer window reopens in January, according to reports.
TEAMtalk claim the winger needs game time after suffering a succession of injuries since his £52m switch from Borussia Dortmund last year.
Gittens spent a sizeable chunk of his first season at Stamford Bridge on the treatment table with a hamstring injury.
This campaign, an ankle problem sustained whilst on international duty has kept him out for over a month.
A move to Italy appears to be on the cards for the England Under-21 international. Serie A side Roma wanted to sign him in the summer, but a deal never materialised.
TEAMtalk report that the Giallorossi are set to revive their interest in Gittens and Chelsea will welcome the approach, although no option to buy is likely to be included in the loan.
Four Premier League clubs and several teams in Germany are also said to be keen on securing the winger’s services.
The 22-year-old has played 29 times for the Blues, but only 13 of them have been starts. His one and only goal came against Wolves in the Carabao Cup in October last year; a game in which he also provided 2 assists.
In fact, Gittens has only managed 3 other goal contributions (all assists) during his time with the London club. He created Chelsea’s second goal for Moises Caicedo during a 5-1 win over Ajax in the Champions League.
The forward provided the cross for Pedro Neto’s opening goal against Burnley last season, as well as setting up the same player during a 3-1 defeat to Leeds a couple of weeks later.
