Big win for Wirral as Vale of Lune are heavily beaten

It was Wirral who started attacking from the kick off with good passing leading to opportunities to score two tries in the first 15 minutes through James Reeve and Tom Akehurst to take an early 12-0 lead before Vale of Lune (VOL) came back from a powerful scrum surge to score.

Both teams scored a tries before half-time to leave the score 19-12 at half time.

In the second half Wirral continued playing positive rugby and scored further tries from Jacob Mitchell (2), Johnny Roberts, Hayden Long and another for Akehurst.

In the last play of the game VOL scored a push over consolation try but it was Wirral's day as the 52-19 win sees them maintain fourth place in the league. Rhys James managed an impressive six conversions out of eight.

Next week Wirral are away at Rochdale. This week it was also pleasing to note that both the 2nd and 3rd teams won away from home on Saturday.
