Arsenal fans are still hurting from what happened in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Mikel Arteta’s side took an early lead through Kai Havertz and showed incredible defensive solidity. The French champions didn’t look like they were going to be able to score at all.

Aside from winning the Champions League, how can Arteta surpass Arsene Wenger as Arsenal’s greatest manager?
PSG smashed four past Manchester City at the Etihad in the Champions League on Wednesday night. The European champions were head and shoulders above Enzo Maresca’s side, and cut the hosts open at will.
Arsenal fans watched that and immediately told the world why Mikel Arteta was right to approach the final the way that he did, even though the Gunners ended up losing the game.
One tweeted: “Ultimately we didn’t win it, so there’s no winner’s tax. But what we did against PSG in the UCL final should not be underplayed by any Arsenal fan.”
Another wrote: “Arteta limited this team to nothing for 120 minutes. This is the greatest manager of all time, man. When will you lot get it through your heads?”
“Arteta held this PSG super team to a 1-1 draw, by the way,” said another.
Another Gooner reacted by saying: “Mikel Arteta is not respected enough for what he has done with Arsenal. Pundits are always quick to label Arsenal boring, too defensive. Now watch how PSG pummelled Manchester City at the Etihad. Just watch how the front line of PSG exposed Man City’s defence. The same PSG needed a penalty shootout to defeat Arsenal in the Champions League last season. Come on, give Mikel Arteta his flowers.”
“How did we manage to stop this PSG super team from scoring an open-play goal in the UCL final? We don’t appreciate Mikel Arteta enough, man,” wrote another.
Barely any key Arsenal player was fully fit when the Gunners faced PSG in the final of the Champions League. Some of them even played with serious injuries.
Luis Enrique, on the other hand, had a well-rested squad that was mostly free of any issues. That is where the French champions had their advantage.
If Arsenal had gone toe-to-toe with PSG with so many of their players low on fitness after a gruelling Premier League campaign, they would’ve likely suffered the same fate as Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Arteta was completely right to play the way he did, and barring the penalty, PSG didn’t have a clue how to break through Arsenal’s defence. They just got lucky with Mosquera’s foul – a fit Jurrien Timber or Ben White would’ve never done that.
If Arsenal and PSG face each other again in the Champions League and the Gunners have everyone fit and available, we are convinced that Arteta will get the better of Enrique.
