Dolphins have their first lead of the 2026 season

The Dolphins never had a lead in their first five games of the season, but it didn’t take them long to change that in their sixth outing.

Quarterback Malik Willis hit wide receiver Caleb Douglas for a seven-yard touchdown to cap their first possession against the Jets. The Dolphins now lead 7-0 with just under 11 minutes left to play in the first quarter.

In addition to being the first lead of the season, it’s the first touchdown of Douglas’s NFL career.

Willis and tight end Greg Dulcich hooked up for a 32-yard gain to get the Dolphins inside the Jets’ 5-yard-line and the quarterback also had a 12-yard hookup with Malik Washington. Running back Ollie Gordon’s 25-yard run was the other big play on the drive.
