Jurgen Klopp is preparing for his second international window as Germany national team manager this November, having had a bumpy first break last month.

Klopp had been expected to transform the Germans after a poor World Cup, but could only manage one win in his first four matches in charge, even losing at home to Greece in a surprise result.

The legendary former Liverpool manager will hope for better this time around, where he has once again called up Reds’ No. 7 Florian Wirtz. Wirtz has been in better form for Liverpool since his first meeting with Klopp last month, and ahead of their next meet-up, the 59-year-old has admitted that he and Wirtz have been in constant contact over recent weeks.

Klopp and Wirtz’s relationship is growing

As he struggles for lift off at Liverpool, a tuition from Klopp is exactly what Wirtz needs to build his confidence back up.

Reds fans have already seen the benefit that can bring, with the 23-year-old in much better form since his first experience of their former boss.

Klopp has praised Wirtz heavily ever since being appointed to the national team over the summer, and he once again had some positive words for the £116m man after announcing his squad for the upcoming matches against Serbia and the Netherlands.

“We’re now moving forward a bit with Flo Wirtz, with whom I’ve been in regular contact with since our first meeting,” said Klopp.

“We practically didn’t know each other before that, he was among the kids when I left the Bundesliga, but we’ve really been in regular contact. I really like the development.”

“Last night [Wednesday, Fenerbahce vs Liverpool], he only played a few minutes, they rotated him which makes more than enough sense. Generally a great, great development.”

Klopp then touched on his reaction to seeing Wirtz live in training for the first time, admitting that he had been blown away by just how much quality the former Bayer Leverkusen player has.

“He came to the national team and I knew of course that he was really good, outstanding, but when I saw him live I just thought he was so good!” he laughed. “So I’m very happy about that.”

Liverpool fans will hope that Wirtz can first make an impact against Crystal Palace on Sunday, before heading off for the next part of his education under one of the greatest figures in their history.
