When will Davante Adams come back to the Rams?

At a surprising 2-4, the Los Angeles Rams' 2026 season might already be on life support. If they still want to compete for the NFC playoffs, let alone their original Super Bowl aspirations, then the Rams have little margin for error remaining. It's time for Sean McVay's and Matthew Stafford's group to make a run or risk seeing their season spiral down the drain.

Unfortunately for the Rams, they're going to have to keep their season afloat without one of their best and most essential offensive weapons.

Veteran receiver Davante Adams ruptured his hamstring during last Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He will obviously not only miss this Sunday's matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders, but he will also miss every Rams game for the foreseeable future. The hope seems to be that Adams can make a late-season return, but that feels like wishful thinking for a 33-year-old player coming off a serious and delicate soft-tissue injury.

It's not an ideal situation for Adams or the Rams, to say the least. Not one bit, especially given Adams' role in their offense.

Adams reportedly underwent a procedure to help with the recovery of his injured hamstring. That may push up his timeline to potentially be ready to play after the Rams' Week 11 bye. If Adams comes back then, he'd be ready for a home game with the Green Bay Packers in Week 12.

Again, given the nature of Adams' injury at his age, that's still not something I would personally bet on. I would venture to guess that the earliest we could see Adams play again is in early December, in Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs. That would, at the very least, be more in line with the stated six-week recovery period for Adams, and would probably be smarter for the Rams if they can stay afloat over the next several games. Here's hoping for the best for the veteran playmaker moving forward.

Who is Davante Adams' backup on the Rams?

Konata Mumpfield will take Adams' spot for the time being and move up in the Rams' pass-target hierarchy. Mumpfield is in his second NFL season after being selected in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
