Ferguslie Cricket Club is running a packed calendar of social events throughout November to support its long-term goal of building a new pavilion.
Brian Donaghy, acting president of Ferguslie Cricket Club, said: "The on-field activities have to take a back seat for obvious reasons, over what is a long close season for us, so with money to generate to help us raise the cash we need to build our new pavilion, we have to use the time we have to keep the Treasurer happy.
"Of course, it's also good to see members at social events just enjoying themselves, so November in particular is going to be an active month for us."
The club's annual dinner, on Friday, November 6, will feature a three-course meal and appearances by former footballer John Gahagan and sports writer Bill Leckie.
Brian said: "The lucky members with briefs are guaranteed a great night, a good dinner, and fantastic company.
"It reinforces our need for larger premises, as we could have sold an awful lot more tickets for the night, but the current limitations of space make that impossible."
Plans are already in place for more fundraising activities later in the month.
Brian said: "Two weeks later, on Friday, November 20, the club stages another very popular night in the shape of a Bingo Evening, when all eyes will be down hoping for full houses, single lines, and other variations of winning combinations, with participants having the chance to demonstrate their ability to fill in multiple books of tickets armed with only a pen.
"All funds raised are going towards the cost of building our new pavilion, while giving members another opportunity to escape the cold winter nights and meet up with friends once again at the club for another entertaining evening.
"Prospective participants can simply turn up on the night in time for a 7.30 for 8pm start and pay at the door."
Looking beyond social events, the club is preparing for an important milestone.
Brian said: "We’ve also got another important occasion only three days later, on Monday, November 23 at 7pm, when we hold our Annual General Meeting.
"Every AGM is important, but perhaps this year's meeting, for members only, takes on a special significance as we look to take forward the issues which will see us open a brand-new pavilion in the near future.
"It really is important for the members who have the club’s long-term future at heart to take part in the discussions, as this topic will dominate agendas at the club for some considerable time to come.
"We haven’t ruled out the possibility of at least one more special event for club members in the run up to the festive season, so I can only recommend they use these opportunities coming up to get along to the club house and hear what is going on at Ferguslie Cricket Club over the next couple of months."
