Roll Tide Wire staff predictions for Alabama vs. Texas A&M in Week 8

Coming off back-to-back losses, the Alabama Crimson Tide are now facing a must-win game this Saturday against the Texas A&M Aggies.

An opponent Alabama has not faced since 2023, Texas A&M is a team that the Crimson Tide have owned since the Aggies joined the SEC back in 2012. Alabama owns a 10-2 record head-to-head against Texas A&M over the span, which also includes a 5-1 record in Tuscaloosa where the lone loss came in 2012 against an Aggie team headlined by Heisman winning quarterback Johnny Manziel.

The Aggies also come to Tuscaloosa this season sitting at 4-3 overall (1-3 SEC), while Alabama is 5-2 (3-2). Texas A&M has losses at home against Kentucky, as well as on the road at LSU and Missouri.

Follow along as the Roll Tide Wire staff make their predictions for Saturday's matchup between Alabama and Texas A&M.

Matt Melton's prediction: Alabama 38, Texas A&M 20

Alabama has not lost three consecutive games in almost two decades, and I simply do not see it happening against the Aggies on Saturday afternoon. Yes, Texas A&M is a talented team, but it will not be enough against a motivated Crimson Tide group that cannot afford another loss, especially with this game being played in Tuscaloosa.

Expect the Crimson Tide to start fast Saturday at home, and for the Alabama offense to eventually have a big game, especially on the ground. There is also potential for Alabama's defense to force multiple turnovers against the Aggie offense, as Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed has struggled at times during his career with interceptions.

Steve Holley's prediction: Alabama 30, Texas A&M 15

Texas A&M already has blowout losses at LSU and Missouri in their two road games this season. Alabama is obviously banged up and desperately needs its upcoming bye week. We'll see what Kalen DeBoer meant after the Tennessee loss when he said things were about to get "really uncomfortable."

Elliot Reeder's prediction: Alabama 27, Texas A&M 10

Alabama really needs their bye week, but that is still a week away. This is a must-win game for the Tide, now sitting with two losses, if they want to stay alive in the CFP race. Texas A&M has not lived up to expectations this season, and are struggling offensively (12th in the SEC in scoring at 29.4 points per game, which drops all the way to just 16.8 points per game in SEC play).

I think Alabama's defense will be able to force a couple turnovers, and the offense will start to figure some things out.
