Celtic’s Premiership meeting with Kilmarnock on Sunday will kick off at the unusual time of 4pm, despite the fixture not being included in the weekend’s live television schedule.
Martin O’Neill’s side are due to host struggling Killie at Parkhead, but supporters hoping to follow the action on TV will be left disappointed, with neither Sky Sports nor Premier Sports broadcasting the match live.
The later-than-usual start time has been arranged following discussions between the clubs and relevant authorities, including Police Scotland, with a combination of Remembrance Sunday commitments and major roadworks across Glasgow influencing the decision.
Police resources are expected to be stretched earlier in the day as the city prepares to host its annual Remembrance Sunday commemorations. Military personnel, veterans and civic representatives will gather at George Square for the traditional service.
The ceremony, which returns to George Square following a temporary relocation to Glasgow Cathedral during redevelopment work, is scheduled to begin at 10.45am, with proceedings expected to conclude around 11.45am.
There are also significant travel disruption concerns, with essential refurbishment work being carried out on motorway gantries along the M8 and M77. The works began on Friday, October 30, and are scheduled to continue until Saturday, November 28.
With both the remembrance events and ongoing transport restrictions placing additional demands on the city, the decision has been taken to push Celtic's home encounter back to a 4pm start.
It is not the first time the fixture has been affected by the Remembrance weekend, either. Celtic and Kilmarnock met at the same stage of last season's campaign, with that encounter also scheduled for a 4pm Sunday kick-off.
Celtic will look to strengthen their position at the top of the table with a victory against a Kilmarnock side who currently occupy 11th place and have only recorded nine points from their opening 12 league games.
Celtic fans will still have the opportunity to follow the match live, with the club making the fixture available to stream through CelticPlayer.
A one-off Match Pass is priced at £12.99 for non-subscribers based in the UK and Ireland, while eligible existing members can access the coverage at a reduced cost of £9.99.
The broadcast is scheduled to begin at 3.30pm, giving viewers half an hour of pre-match build-up before kick-off. Overseas subscribers will also be able to watch the match live through the platform.
