LaMelo Ball faces fan backlash after spitting on the floor while foul trouble limits him in Minnesota’s loss to San Antonio.

A video of Minnesota Timberwolves guard LaMelo Ball spitting on the floor during Saturday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs has fans recoiling.

The clip surfaced on a night when the former All-Star spent more time on the bench than on the court. Foul trouble followed him from the opening minutes at Frost Bank Center.

LaMelo Ball’s Courtside Moment Leaves NBA Fans Disgusted

Hoop Central posted the clip during the game with the caption, “LaMelo Ball spits on the floor,” and it really didn’t take too long for fans to catch wind of what Ball had just pulled.

Fans wasted little time reacting. One wrote, “So gross.”

Another was just as blunt: “This is so vile.”

“Hate these type of hoopers,” a third fan remarked. A fourth tweeted: “Man, hell nah…”

Others found something to laugh about. Basketball account “Oh No He Didn’t” commented: “Take two: WYD LaMelo.”

One viewer trolled the guard’s shooting: “The floor didn’t miss those shots, Melo.”

The 2021 Rookie of the Year had already gotten off to a rough start against the team that eliminated Minnesota in the second round of last season’s playoffs. He picked up two fouls in the first four minutes, but coach Chris Finch kept him on the floor.

Two more came in the second quarter, including one on a Julian Champagnie 3-point attempt. The former Charlotte Hornets star went to the bench with 7:40 left before halftime after picking up his fourth foul.

The Wolves trailed 46-38 when he sat down but outscored San Antonio 23-14 the rest of the half to take a 61-60 lead.

Ball returned to start the third quarter but picked up his fifth foul less than two minutes later on a shooting attempt by Devin Vassell. He spent the rest of the period on the bench.

Foul trouble has been a recurring issue since the No. 3 pick of the 2020 NBA Draft arrived in Minnesota in a summer trade. He committed at least four fouls in each of his first five games, including five against the Golden State Warriors on Oct. 28.

He entered Saturday averaging 4 fouls per game, compared with his career average of 3.1. Friday’s 127-101 win over the Los Angeles Clippers was an exception, as he committed three fouls while scoring a season-high 24 points.

Ball finished with 10 points in 20 minutes, shooting 2-of-10 from the field and missing all four of his 3-point attempts. He made all six free throws and added eight rebounds and three steals.

He also contributed to Minnesota’s fourth-quarter comeback attempt. His steal led to a Joan Beringer dunk, and he later made two free throws and assisted on a McDaniels basket as the Wolves trimmed a 13-point deficit to four, trailing 105-101 with 6:49 remaining.

Ball eventually picked up his sixth foul and fouled out. San Antonio pulled away for a 121-111 victory.
