Frank Lampard probably gets fed up with me but I always believed I would play in the Premier League

Coventry City have made a solid start to the Premier League season and star man Jack Rudoni is looking more and more assured

Coventry City's Jack Rudoni is now a Premier League star

Jack Rudoni’s transition to the Premier League might have surprised some – but not the man himself.

The Coventry City talisman turned in another excellent performance in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Sunderland and marked his display with a third goal in four games.

That puts the 25-year-old level with the likes of Cole Palmer, Bruno Fernandes and former Sky Blues loan man Yasin Ayari and he is attracting national attention.

Rudoni was praised on Match of the Day at the weekend and despite taking the scenic route to the top flight, insists he never had any doubts he’d make it.

“Nah it's not surprised me, I mean, I believe in myself a lot, I've always believed I'm going to play in the Premier League,” Rudoni told talkSPORT.

“So it's almost like it was just taking those steps to get there, and now I'm here, I believe that I should be here and I've worked hard to get here.

“I like the big stage, the bigger the stage the better for me, so every game I can't wait to get out there and be able to show what I can do and hopefully score some more goals and get some assists to help us retain our Premier League status.

“I set my own targets, but I don't like to cap anything because I believe if you put your mind to anything and work hard enough, you can achieve whatever you want.

“So I kind of see it as the sky's the limit for me, but I have little milestones, I'd love to get to double figures, the gaffer doesn't really set me targets, but he'll work with me a lot and work with me closely, give me lots of advice.

“I'm always asking him about when he was playing, he probably gets fed up the amount I ask him questions, but I'm always asking to try and learn. He's helped me so much in and around the box and just in my general game-play.”

Rudoni will start at Everton on Friday night as the Sky Blues go in search of their second away win of the season. They do so on the back of a morale-boosting win over the Black Cats.

“[Saturday was] A massive win for us, I know a few people are saying it was against another side at the bottom, but every game in the Premier League is obviously big for us so we're buzzing to get three points and another win at home, in front of the fans. Onto Friday now.”
