Keith Andrews: 'Probably our best win of the season'

The head coach spoke of his relief of Brentford winning their first league game since September 18, following four games without a win in all competitions.

An own goal from Nikola Milenkovic set Brentford on their way to ending that run, following recent disappointing results against Liverpool and Hull City.

After a slow opening, the hosts grew into the contest and whilst the manner of Milenkovic's own goal may have been fortuitous, it was a deserved breakthrough for a side that needed a result.

To seal a good afternoon's work, Igor Thiago got onto the scoresheet for just the second time in the Premier League this season, finishing home from Jaidon Anthony's cross following a great team move.

Speaking after the victory over Forest, Andrews said: "I think it's probably our best win because you got to show different traits to similar games and and how we've won the other games that we've played this season."

"And then, obviously, the opposition [Forest] and how they play, how they set up to try and condense the pitch. Pragmatic at times, test you in different ways, got some very talented players that you have to keep quiet and you have to keep your concentration, your focus."

Andrews paid tribute to Aaron Hickey, with the Scot's sublime pass to Jaidon Anthony leading to Brentford's second goal.

"I think he's turned into the second Swiss army knife. So obviously he's played in different positions, he's come here as a fullback, played centre-half as you know and a couple of games recently," said Andrews.

"He's just so versatile but it's his game intelligence that he just gets pictures and like I touched on before, I thought we didn't get hold of the ball at all at times at the start of the second half and he has that technical ability to take it on the pressure, find passes and he's obviously got a defensive mindset naturally being a defender."

"So there was both sides of it that I like from him when he came into the game and obviously the second goal was as good as it gets.

"It's a good technical execution as you're going to see the way he takes it with his right foot and then the volley half volley with the left foot and Jaidon [Anthony] obviously invited a lovely assist, so it's just brilliant to have him available consistently, to be able to have him as an option because I value him hugely."
