German referee Sascha Stegemann will take charge of Celtic’s Europa League meeting with Beşiktaş at Parkhead on Thursday.

Christof Günsch and Marco Achmüller have been appointed as his assistants, with Martin Petersen completing the team on the touchline as fourth official.

UEFA confirmed that Benjamin Brand will oversee VAR, assisted by Patrick Hanslbauer, giving the match an entirely German officiating team.

Referee Stegemann previously served as VAR during Celtic’s goalless Champions League draw away to Dinamo Zagreb in December 2024, when Brendan Rodgers’ side picked up a point in a largely uneventful encounter at the Maksimir Stadium.

Beşiktaş also arrive following a frustrating domestic result, having thrown away a two-goal lead against Kasımpaşa to draw 2–2.

Their captain Orkun Kökçü’s availability remains another part of the build-up, with the midfielder facing an assessment before a decision on his involvement, but he did train on Tuesday.

Thursday’s match kicks off at 8 pm at Celtic Park, with Celtic looking to get their first points on the board. After three matches, it’s three losses for the Hoops, with Martin O’Neill’s side facing Ferencvaros, Benfica and Celta Vigo.

Three points are desperately needed on Thursday.
