Tiger Woods is hoping to play a full TGL schedule this season and could return to competitive action before the end of 2026, according to former team-mate Kevin Kisner.
Woods has not appeared on the PGA Tour since missing the cut at The Open in July 2024, with the 15-time major champion also only making one appearance in the TGL - a tech-infused indoor golf league - last season due to injury.
The former world No 1 has yet to publicly announce a return to action, having been suspended from driving for five years in September after entering a plea agreement to a reckless driving charge for March's car crash.
Woods was listed in Jupiter Links GC's expanded five-player roster for the 2026/27 season, with Kisner - replaced by Keith Mitchell in the line-up - expecting to see the 50-year-old feature more frequently.
"I'm not on the team anymore," Kisner told the Fore Play Podcast. "I had a two-year contract with Jupiter Links. Tiger wants to play and they wanted to sign Keith Mitchell, which is totally fine with me.
"Rob [McNamara], Tiger's guy, he texted me a long text last week. Just telling me what they did on their decisions, how they were moving around and what players were going to do and that Tiger wanted to play a full schedule.
"I mean, we talked about it at the end of the season. I'm not even playing any more really. I played two times this year, so I don't think people that are watching TGL really want a part-time podcaster, part-time broadcaster playing in TGL."
The new TGL season features a seventh team and begins on December 27, live on Sky Sports, with speculation mounting on whether Woods could play competitively before then.
Woods was not listed in the initial player field for December's Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, an invite-only event hosted by his foundation, although could still be included in the field as a sponsor's exemption.
He has also previously described the PNC Championship as his "fifth major", with the 36-hole team competition seeing a former winner of a major or The Players tee it up alongside a family member.
Woods had featured in every edition since 2020 with his son, Charlie Woods, who fired a hole-in-one during the 2024 contest before they lost in a play-off to Bernhard Langer's team, although missed last year's contest due to injury.
"He plays there [at the Hero World Challenge] and PNC [Championship]," Kisner added. "He's going to play both.
"He can't have any more setbacks injury-wise. The way he was swinging and moving on the range, I mean the guy loves to compete.
"Come back, get your feet wet at the Hero, play with Charlie [Woods] in the Father/Son, play some TGL, get ready for Augusta."
Woods is currently listed as 'unranked' in the OWGR standings, having only completed four 72-hole tournaments over the last six seasons and not had a worldwide top 10 since January 2020.
He is able to play on the PGA Tour Champions with a golf cart, although has yet to make his debut on the over-50s circuit, with Kisner unsure whether he would do so in the build-up to any potential major return.
"I'm unsure of their [PGA Tour Champions] schedule leading up to The Masters," Kisner explained. "I don't think he would just go and play a regular Champions Tour event, but you never know."
