Moses Itauma could box four times in 2027, with promoter Frank Warren targeting a January return to give the heavyweight an early start on a busy year.
Warren wants at least three appearances, though fitting in a fourth will depend on the opposition. No opponent or venue has been announced for Itauma’s next fight.
“I would like him to have a minimum of three fights, maybe four if we can fit them in, depending on the opposition as well, of course,” Warren told BoxNation.
That last qualification leaves room for the schedule to change. Four fights would give Itauma regular work, but the value of that activity will come from who Warren puts in front of him. An opponent who makes him solve different problems could provide more than another quick finish.
Warren expects to reveal the next step shortly.
“I think we’ll be sometime next week, towards the end of next week, announcing something, but he’ll be fighting very early next year, probably in January,” he said.
January remains a target rather than a confirmed booking. Still, getting Itauma out that early would leave Warren enough room to spread three more appearances across the remainder of 2027, provided the fights and recovery periods allow it.
The opponent announcement will tell us more about the ambition behind that schedule. Warren offered no names and made no commitment to a world title fight during this interview. His comments were about getting Itauma into the ring regularly.
There is also a practical balance to find. As the opposition improves, fights can require longer preparation and leave less room for a quick turnaround. Warren’s preference for three, with four possible, gives him flexibility without committing Itauma to dates before the opponents are secured.
A busy calendar is a reasonable starting point. The next question is whether those appearances move Itauma closer to the heavyweights he eventually needs to beat.
