Simon Jordan says Rangers' failure to rival Celtic is 'sad' indictment

The outspoken former Crystal Palace chairman had his say on the Light Blues and their disappointments over the past number of years with the Hoops completely dominant for league honours.

Gers had a stuttering start under Derek McInnes this campaign but sit just four points behind their rivals in the table with a game in hand.

McInnes ran Celts close as Hearts manager last term and Jordan took note. But he also claimed Gers' lack of putting up a real threat until now - with Celtic losing 2-0 to Falkirk to make it just three wins from their last 10 - has been rough for the club as well as the game in Scotland as a whole.

"Derek McInnes showed last season, when he had Hearts in the box seat, he bottled it," Jordan said on talkSPORT.

"With due respect to the circumstances that surround him at Rangers, it's got to a sad set of circumstances that Rangers are just getting competitive again, rather than the dominant force of Scottish football, and rivalling Celtic."
