Bruno Fernandes And Kobbie Mainoo To Start; Youri Tielemans Dropped: Man Utd Predicted Lineup Vs Chelsea

Man Utd boss Michael Carrick will be in charge to take on Chelsea this weekend, with the club deciding to keep faith with him despite a run of 8 matches without a win.

The pressure may well be too much if the Red Devils do suffer another defeat, but Carrick will feel his side can get something out of the game when they travel to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were extremely poor in the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham last time out in the league, and if they struggle at home once again, Carrick’s team may be in with a chance of securing a big result.

Press the next page as we share our Man Utd predicted lineup to take on the Blues in the Saturday lunchtime kickoff…

Goalkeeper and Defence

Senne Lammens

GK – Senne Lammens – the Belgian has managed one solitary clean sheet in 11 appearances this season.

RB – Diogo Dalot – after toiling at left-back against Bournemouth, the Portuguese international may be switched to the right.

CB – Harry Maguire – Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven struggled massively last weekend, and it means Maguire has to stay in the starting eleven.

CB – Lisandro Martinez – Carrick said that the Argentinian was not fit to start versus Bournemouth, but he should be ready to face Chelsea.

LB – Noussair Mazraoui – Luke Shaw is still injured, and the alternatives to the Moroccan, Heaven and Dalot, are not particularly appetising. The blame for the lack of left-back options lands squarely at the feet of Director of Football Jason Wilcox.

Midfield

Kobbie Mainoo

CM – Kobbie Mainoo – the 21-year-old has returned to training, so he should be in contention to play against Chelsea after missing the last four matches.

CM – Carlos Baleba – neither the Cameroon international nor Andrey Santos covered themselves in glory versus Bournemouth, but Carrick will have to pick one of them.

Baleba covers the most ground, and he will be needed against an energetic Chelsea side who like to play on the counter-attack.

AM – Bruno Fernandes – it has been reported that the captain has held clear-the-air talks with Carrick, and that may lead to them being reinstated to the team. Youri Tielemans could make way.

Forwards

Amad and Noussair Mazraoui

RW – Amad – the winger doesn’t have the requisite quality to be a regular starter for United, but the continued absence of Benjamin Sesko and Marcus Rashford means Carrick needs to choose between him, Shea Lacey and Joshua Zirkzee.

Based on the manager’s selection decisions since his appointment in January, Amad generally gets the nod when he’s fit.

ST – Bryan Mbeumo – most of the 27-year-old’s best performances for the club have been as a centre-forward, so it makes sense for him to continue playing there with Sesko still injured.

LW – Matheus Cunha – the Brazilian has flattered to deceive for the most part this season, but Mason Mount didn’t do anything against Bournemouth to suggest he should start ahead of him.
