Could the San Francisco 49ers reunite with another former wide receiver before the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline? A new report suggests a deal to reacquire Jauan Jennings soon is “an obvious fit.”
There is very little for the 49ers to complain about heading into the Week 8 NFL schedule. The team currently owns a 6-1 record and sits atop the NFC West standings. This time last year, they had already been hit by some major injuries. However, in 2026, they have remained relatively healthy, except for one part of the roster.
The wide receiver corps has been inundated with injuries since the summer. Former first-round pick Ricky Pearsall is done for the season following PCL surgery. April second-round pick De’Zhaun Stribling is out until December after suffering a nasty ankle injury in Week 1. Ten-year veteran Demarcus Robinson could be back in the next couple of weeks after an injured reserve stint. Plus, the team’s top two receivers, Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel Jr., are beat up and already have a lot of playing miles on their bodies.
The 49ers badly need to add meaningful depth to their receiving corps for the second half and should address the issue before next month’s NFL trade deadline. On Wednesday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Matt Bowden released their rankings of the 25 best players they believe could be moved before Nov. 10 and suggested a perfect deal for San Francisco.
In the report, 49ers veteran Jauan Jennings is given a 50% chance of being moved before the deadline. Furthermore, Fowler added, “Jennings, who’s on a one-year deal, could prove a low-cost option for teams looking to add to their receiver room. The 49ers are an obvious fit.”
After five seasons in the Bay Area, Jennings chose to take a one-year, $8 million deal from the Minnesota Vikings. While he was viewed as a good veteran addition to their receiving corps, he has just four catches for 43 yards in five games. He is clearly expendable, especially since he is not signed for next season.
Jennings can jump right into the 49ers system and make a difference, and he could probably be had for a future fifth- or sixth-round pick in a potential trade. He is a perfect trade target for San Francisco before the deadline.
