Just days after Leeds United tested their nerve, Arsenal once again needed an emphatic second-half display to seal all three points against LOSC Lille in the Champions League.

It wasn't always convincing, but Jurrien Timber's opener in the 64th minute seemed to swing open the floodgates. His touch and finish was arguably the first piece of quality from Mikel Arteta's men.

Once ahead, the introduction of Bukayo Saka handed Eberechi Eze a deserved goal, before the recently-criticised Hale End graduate got himself on the scoresheet.

Now on back-to-back wins after a Brighton thumping before the international break, the Gunners are back on track.

GIVEMESPORT runs the rule over the Arsenal players on the day, delivering a school report style ratings for those that starred.

David Raya - B

Unlike against Leeds at the weekend, it was a comfortable night for Raya against Lille. The Spaniard was rarely tested and was saved by the offside flag when the ball did find the back of his net.

Jurrien Timber - A

Arsenal were desperately looking for quality and they got just that when Timber opened the scoring in the 64th-minute. The Dutchman's touch was excellent, but his finish was even better - dinking a pinpoint effort beyond Berke Özer and into the bottom right.

It was an excellent Champions League return.

Ezri Konsa - A

Truth be told, it was a quiet evening for Konsa. That doesn't mean he shouldn't be credited with another display full of composure, however. The summer signing has simply slotted straight into Arteta's side this season.

All 10 found — excellent!

Gabriel Magalhães - A

Like Konsa, Gabriel enjoyed a fairly quiet evening. In some ways, the Brazilian will be relieved to pick up a clean sheet after going a goal down against Leeds and suffering a thumping against Brighton before the international break.

Myles Lewis-Skelly - A

Whether it's at left-back or central midfield, Myles Lewis-Skelly continues to make all the difference. This time at fullback, he was one of few bright sparks in the first-half.

By the time Arsenal's victory came to an end, the Englishman had created the most chances on the pitch (3).

Bruno Guimaraes - B

Will feel as though he should have earned his side a penalty in the second-half, only for VAR's decision to sum up his evening. Days after scoring the winner against Leeds, Guimares battled well without the same decisive influence.

Arteta insisted that the Brazilian still has work to do even after that Leeds winner and there is still a feeling that he is winning over his new manager.

Declan Rice - C

It was far from disastrous from Rice, but it was also not spectacular. Whilst the midfielder kept things ticking over, it wouldn't be absurd to suggest that he needs to be doing more to influence Arsenal's frontline when Martin Odegaard finds himself on the bench.

Noni Madueke - C

Like against Leeds, Madueke was one of the bright sparks in a blunt Arsenal attack. The winger's evening came to an end just moments after Timber's winning goal and he can consider his display a solid night's work.

Mikel Merino - D

Merino is so often the surprise hero for Arsenal, but this was one of his more disappointing displays. The Spaniard - deployed in the No.10 role - struggled to form a connection with Viktor Gyokeres and created just the one chance.

Even Merino may not have been surprised when the fourth official raised his number to bring his night to an early end.

Eberechi Eze - A

There has been a quiet rise in critics of Eze in recent weeks. Many were struggling to see where his role may arrive at Arsenal. If anything could prove doubters wrong, it is his performance against Lille, however.

He got himself on the scoresheet, was arguably Arsenal's best attacker, and made a claim to become a more consistent starter going forward.

Viktor Gyokeres - D

It's becoming difficult to know exactly where Gyokeres' future lies at Arsenal. This was the chance he had been waiting for to fight for his place, especially after a subdued display by Kai Havertz against Leeds. Once again, however, the Swede struggled.

By the time that his time on the pitch came to an end just after the hour mark, Gyokeres had taken just 12 touches. Simply put, he needs to do more.

Substitutes

Bukayo Saka - A

Like Eze, Saka silenced all doubters against Lille. Emerging from the bench after the hour mark, the Hale End graduate instantly got himself an assist and then added to that with a goal himself. It was the perfect cameo.

Martin Odegaard - A

Odegaard has been back to his best since the new campaign commenced and that was always going to be good news for Arsenal. The Norway international is quickly becoming one of their most important players again and that was apparent from the bench here.

Kai Havertz - A

It doesn't take long to realise why Gyokeres has lost his place when looking at Havertz. From the bench, the German offered far more than the Swede - even taking more touches and getting himself an assist.

Ben White - N/A

Wasn't on long enough to make an impact.

Max Dowman - N/A

Wasn't on long enough to make an impact.
