Dingwall boxer Ben Bartlett excited for ‘massive opportunity’ as Celtic Super-welterweight Championship bout is confirmed for next year

Ben Bartlett says it is a “great achievement” to have a Celtic Championship bout confirmed for 2027 at this stage of his professional boxing career – but he is not looking past his next opponent in November.

It has been announced that Bartlett will face Taylor Coyle for the Celtic Super-Welterweight Championship in what will be the 15th fight of his pro career in March.

Next year’s title bout will also be Bartlett’s fourth, having laid claim to Scottish titles at welterweight and super-welterweight before suffering the first loss of his career in a Commonwealth Title bout earlier this year.

Victory would help Bartlett kick on to the next level, and he knows how big the opportunity could be for his standing in the sport.

“It obviously covers Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales, so it would push me further up the rankings than a Scottish title,” Bartlett said.

“You would be looking at some big fights after that if you win, so it’s a very good title to be going for so early in my career.

“It’s a great achievement, whatever the outcome, and I’m proud of myself for getting this far.

“It’s a massive opportunity in March, but before that I’ve got a fight in November to keep me active, and I’m not overlooking that. It’s important I keep the momentum going strongly.”

Bartlett will step into the ring at Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom on Saturday, November 28 – ironically the same night that Coyle will be competing in Glasgow.

Neither man will be taking their bout next month for granted, especially as they could each make a statement ahead of the Celtic title bout.

“I’m ready to put on a show in November, and if things go well I’ll be starting next year with a bang,” Bartlett added.

“I’m training very hard right now, and I’m focused on November as well as the Celtic title shot next year.

“I have my eyes on the prize as I always do, and I’ll give everything I’ve got on the night – whether that’s in November or next year.

“That’s how I always fight, I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I’m ready to put in the work to show the Highlands what I’m made of.

“I’m in another gruelling camp right now, but that’s just part and parcel of the job. All the sacrifices are definitely worth it when my hand gets raised after winning.”
