Nicolo Tresoldi has attracted plenty of attention after scoring a hat-trick against Inter Milan, but Jürgen Klopp believes the young forward should be allowed to make his international decision without outside pressure.
Jürgen Klopp has described Nicolo Tresoldi as a “world-class talent” following the striker’s hat-trick against Inter Milan a week ago, but has urged caution over the debate surrounding his international future.
Tresoldi’s impressive performance has intensified interest in which national team he will ultimately represent. However, Klopp believes that the attention should not become a burden for the young forward as he considers such an important decision.
“Tresoldi is a world-class talent, but there is no point putting pressure on the lad because of his decision about which national team he wants to play for,” Klopp said.
The Germany coach stressed that Tresoldi is currently involved with the under-21 team and has time to decide what is best for his future.
“He is with the under-21s for now and has time. But yes, he has outstanding qualities, and we want to give him the peace and space he needs to make this important decision.”
With his performances attracting growing attention, Tresoldi’s international future is likely to remain a talking point. For now, however, Klopp wants the youngster to concentrate on his development and make his choice in his own time.
