Switzerland are preparing for their final Nations League fixtures with the return of one of their most emblematic figures. Ahead of November's clashes against Slovenia and Scotland, Murat Yakin has officially announced his squad, highlighted above all by the return of Granit Xhaka, who is ready to reclaim the captain's armband.

The midfielder had been left out of the squad for several international windows after being convicted by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Lucerne for fraudulently obtaining a fake Covid-19 vaccination certificate. Having served the consequences of the affair, Xhaka is once again at the head coach's disposal and will be able to wear the Switzerland jersey once more.

The midfielder is not the only high-profile comeback in Yakin's list. After missing the previous international break, Breel Embolo, Miro Muheim, Ruben Vargas, and Denis Zakaria have also returned to the fold.

There are, however, two brand-new faces in the senior national setup. They are 21-year-old goalkeeper Silas Huber, a starter for Zurich called up as the fourth-choice shot-stopper, and 25-year-old winger Samuel Ballet. The latter has impressed for Turkish second-tier outfit Amedspor, playing a key role in the team's strong run with four goals and one assist.

Below is the full Switzerland squad:

Goalkeepers: Silas Huber (FC Zurich), Marvin Keller (Young Boys), Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund), Yvon Mvogo (FC Lorient).

Defenders: Manuel Akanji (Inter), Zachary Athekame (Lyon), Adrian Bajrami (SC Braga), Sascha Britschgi (Parma), Eray Cömert (Torino), Nico Elvedi (Leeds United), Miro Muheim (Hamburger SV), Ricardo Rodriguez (Torino).

Midfielders: Michel Aebischer (Union Berlin), Zeki Amdouni (Burnley), Samuel Ballet (Amedspor), Winsley Boteli (FC Sion), Breel Embolo (Atlanta United), Remo Freuler (Olympiacos), Cedric Itten (Werder Bremen), Ardon Jashari (AC Milan), Johan Manzambi (Aston Villa).

Forwards: Dan Ndoye (Nottingham Forest), Fabian Rieder (FC Augsburg), Alvyn Sanches (Young Boys), Djibril Sow (Genoa CFC), Ruben Vargas (Sevilla), Granit Xhaka (Sunderland), Denis Zakaria (AS Monaco).
