A legendary English footballer has been discussing the need for better sporting provisions on the Fylde coast with a local MP.
Former Lionesses and Chelsea centre-back Millie Bright OBE met with Blackpool North and Fleetwood MP Lorraine Beavers to discuss some of the Fylde coast’s biggest sporting issues, including the poor facilities at King George’s Playing Fields.
Millie now works for the Football Foundation, the UK’s largest sporting charity which was set up to help boost the profile of grassroots football.
Posting on Facebook about the ‘great’ meeting, Lorraine Beavers said: “ We had a chat about how best to support grassroots football clubs, the situation at King George's playing field, and the numerous local clubs that need women's changing facilities.
“Grassroots clubs play a vital role in our communities and they'll be sending some information over to me regarding local issues that I will chase up with Wyre Council to try and get you the support you need.
“However, please do reach out to them if you're a local club and looking for support, while I'll do all I can to support you, they are the experts and have a wealth of information & knowledge.
