Chelsea’s impressive away win and clean sheet against Everton was marred by a horrific collision involving Emi Martinez,
The goalkeeper ended up stretchered off after a long delay, and taken straight to hospital.
After the game, manager Xabi Alonso gave an update on the health of the Chelsea number one, who had been having perhaps his best game so far for the club.
“As far as I know he left the stadium conscious. Right now he is in the hospital doing precautionary tests so let’s see but this is what I know so far,” Alonso said.
It’s about what we expected – there’s almost no way we’d have any concrete information by now unless it was devastatingly terrible. All we can do is wait and hope for the best.

Estevao didn’t get on the pitch against Everton today, and there are concerns about a lack of game time for him.
Pedro Neto is one of the players keeping Estevao out of the team right now, and that was justified by his performance today.
Alonso has also been speaking to the media about next week’s interesting clash against Tottenham.
