The Indianapolis Colts haven't generated steady pressure on opposing quarterbacks this season, and a new statistic reveals just how big the problem has become.
According to NFL Researcher on X, citing Next Gen Stats, Indianapolis ranks dead last among all 32 NFL teams with a quarterback pressure rate of just 26.5% through eight games.
The Colts are nearly five percentage points behind the New Orleans Saints, who rank 31st at 31.4%.
For comparison, the Minnesota Vikings lead the league with a 45.8% pressure rate, followed by the New York Jets at 41.3% and the Los Angeles Rams at 41.0%.
The numbers highlight an ongoing defensive problem for Indianapolis, which heads into its Week 9 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys with a 2-6 record. At the edge rusher position in particular, the lack of pass rush production has been noticeable.
Yet despite the team's collective struggles, defensive tackle Adetomiwa Adebawore has materialized into a bright spot.
Per the Colts' official website, Adebawore leads all NFL defensive tackles in pressure rate (16.1%) and pass rush win rate (17%).
The 25-year-old has recorded four sacks and eight quarterback hits through eight games, earning a two-year contract extension announced Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Indianapolis also recently traded veteran defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers, leaving Adebawore with greater responsibility along the defensive front.
Especially with Dak Prescott and the Cowboys' offense on the horizon, Indianapolis will need to step up big time to slow down Dallas' passing attack.
