Looking back now, Week 7 of the 2026 SEC football season might be day that will be talked about for years to come.
A day where a number of highly-ranked teams across college football suffered losses, many of those came from the SEC. In fact, there were five ranked SEC teams who suffered a loss Saturday, with three coming in top 25 matchups, while the other two were against unranked conference foes.
As a result, this week's edition of our SEC power rankings features the most movement of the season yet, headlined by a new No. 1 sitting atop the conference.
A truly chaotic week in the conference, here is how the Week 7 results impacted the latest SEC power rankings.
Vanderbilt (3-4 overall, 0-4 SEC) moves into the No. 16 spot following a 31-21 home loss to Arkansas, their fourth-straight. The Commodores were outscored in the second half, 17-7, and could not overcome a pair of Jared Curtis interceptions.
Now the lone SEC team without a conference win, Vanderbilt travels to Kentucky in Week 8.
Arkansas (3-4, 1-3) picked up their first SEC win Saturday with a 31-21 road victory at Vanderbilt. The Razorbacks forced two turnovers in the win, and also used a second half comeback to seal the late victory.
A bye week now awaits the Razorbacks.
Texas A&M (4-3, 1-3) was the SEC's lone team in nonconference action Saturday, doing so at home with a 41-0 win over The Citadel. This was a dominant showing from the Aggies which included a 501-183 edge in total yardage, as well as three rushing touchdowns from Jamarion Morrow.
A return to SEC play awaits the Aggies this Saturday at Alabama.
South Carolina (3-3, 1-3) was the lone SEC team not in action Saturday due to a bye week. The Gamecocks will host Tennessee in Week 8.
Mississippi State (4-2, 2-2) was shutout Saturday for the first time this season in a 31-0 road loss at LSU. During the loss, Billy Puckett got the start under center in place of the injured Kamario Taylor, and led a Bulldog offense that did not find the end zone, despite nearly 300 total yards.
The Bulldogs have now lost two-straight ahead of a home game with Oklahoma.
Oklahoma (3-3, 1-2) suffered a 21-13 home loss to Kentucky on Saturday. The Sooners blew a lead late in the fourth quarter, and were plagued by four turnovers, three of which were John Mateer interceptions.
Next up is a road game at Mississippi State.
In a loaded week of big wins, it was likely Auburn (4-2, 2-2) who had college football's best with a 27-24 road win at Georgia. Led by a big showing from quarterback Byrum Brown, Auburn forced three turnovers to help secure the big win, one which saw Alex McPherson make a game-winning field goal as time expired.
Auburn now returns home for a big game against LSU.
Texas (4-2, 1-2) sees a significant drop following a shocking 27-24 home loss to Florida. The Longhorns struggled at times on offense with only 272 total yards for the game, while also being outscored in the second half, 17-7.
Austin will likely be home to the SEC's best game of Week 8 as Texas hosts Ole Miss.
Florida (5-2, 3-2) snapped a two-game skid Saturday with a huge 27-24 road win at Texas. Tramell Jones Jr. drew the start at quarterback for the Gators on Saturday, and went on to impress by throwing for two touchdowns, as well as lead an offense that went 10-of-21 on third and fourth downs.
The Gators now enter a bye week.
Missouri (5-2, 2-2) dropped a ranked matchup at Ole Miss, 31-3. Austin Simmons did throw for 300+ yards in his return to Oxford, but the biggest story was likely the Missouri ground game kept in check, rushing for only 39 total yards altogether.
A bye week awaits Missouri.
Alabama (5-2, 3-2) suffered a rare second consecutive loss Saturday afternoon with a 26-10 defeat at Tennessee. A rough showing overall, the Crimson Tide finished the game with only 201 yards of total offense, and committed four turnovers, three of which came from quarterback Keelon Russell.
The Crimson Tide return home in Week 8 to host Texas A&M.
LSU (5-2, 2-2) delivered an impressive performance by shutting out Mississippi State in a top 25 showdown, 31-0. Sam Leavitt led the way for LSU with a stellar showing at the quarterback position, throwing for four touchdowns.
The Tigers now travel for a road game at Auburn.
Kentucky (6-1, 4-1) continues to rack up wins after a 21-13 road victory at Oklahoma on Saturday night. Extending their winning streak to five, the Wildcats were able to complete the late comeback with a 14-0 edge in the fourth quarter, with their defense also forced four turnovers.
The Wildcats will host Vanderbilt in Week 8.
Tennessee (6-1, 3-1) picked up their biggest win of the season with a 26-10 home victory over Alabama. The Vols, who forced four Alabama turnovers, owned the second half with a 14-0 edge, and were led by a monster game on the ground from DeSean Bishop.
Next up for Tennessee is a road game at South Carolina.
The SEC's final unbeaten, Georgia (6-1, 4-1) suffered their first loss at home Saturday to rival Auburn, 27-24. Despite a late comeback, the Bulldogs were plagued by three turnovers in the loss, each of which were committed by quarterback Gunner Stockton.
Georgia now enters a bye week.
Ole Miss (5-1, 3-1) now sits atop the SEC power rankings following an impressive Week 7 home rout of Missouri in a ranked matchup, 31-3. A dominant performance, the Rebels were led by four touchdowns from quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, three of which were passing, while Ole Miss also outgained Missouri on the ground, 257-39.
The Rebels now travel to Texas in Week 8.
