Atlanta Dream fans showed out for their team on Thursday by packing State Farm Arena on a Thursday at 12:30 p.m. ET for Game 6 of the WNBA Finals.
Their support definitely helped give the Dream the confidence they needed to win Game 6 and even the series 3-3. The Dream won 80-69 over the Golden State Valkyries to force a Game 7 on Saturday, Oct. 31. It's the first Game 7 in WNBA Finals history.
Angel Reese had a historic game of her own on Thursday as she now holds the record for the most rebounds (78) in a WNBA Finals series. She's also posted four double-doubles during the Finals, which is the second-most in league history. She put up 15 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.
Reese praised the 17,000-plus fans in attendance at State Farm Arena for helping the Dream dominate in Game 6. The Dream wanted to win for the dedicated fans.
"Every time we've thrown the first punch, we've won the game. Just being able to set the tone early," Reese said after the win. "We ain't have everybody come out at 12:30 for no reason. We appreciate the fan's support on a weekday. They came out and supported us every single day, every single game. We wanted to make sure we ended this right here."
It was the last game in Atlanta this season as the Finals will now travel back to the Chase Center in San Francisco, California, for Game 7 this weekend.
The sell-out crowd on Thursday wasn't a surprise as Atlanta fans have been showing out for the Dream all season. The sell-outs this season helped the organization sign a multi-year agreement with State Farm Arena for the team to play its regular season games there. Next season, all 25 regular season Dream games will be played at the arena instead of the Gateway Center Arena, which holds about 3,500 fans.
