Last week during this exercise, there were five trade ideas that were named. One of them has already happened, exactly as predicted. Will history repeat itself this week? Anything is possible in the wild, wacky world of the NFL. Besides, now teams are even more confident in their stances as either buyers or sellers ahead of the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline.
With many teams either trying to collect draft picks for the 2027 NFL Draft or improve rosters in anticipation of a deep playoff push, several negotiations will take place this week. Here are five NFL trades that could actually get done before Week 9 kicks off, including Jonathan Taylor to…
The Los Angeles Rams’ offense just isn’t the same without Davante Adams posing a threat, especially in the red zone where he’s recorded 18 touchdowns in the past 20 games. With Puka Nacua and Adams both playing on expiring contracts, the Rams are not only in need of a short-term fix, but potentially a long-term solution too. That’s where the 25-year-old Josh Downs could provide a fix. If he maintains his current pace, Downs will have three seasons of 700 or more receiving yards in his four years in the NFL. Also playing on an expiring deal, getting Downs now would give the Rams a chance to evaluate whether they want to pay him to stick around next year too.
The popular pick may be for the Kansas City Chiefs to add a receiver ahead of the trade deadline, but they may be waiting on Tyreek Hill to return to health. Yet, another key need in Kansas City is at the edge rusher position, with the Chiefs ranking near the bottom of the league in sacks. With Chris Jones and Peter Woods entrenched as long-term building blocks on the interior, it’s time for the Chiefs to add a serious difference-maker along the edge, and Josh Sweat is itching to get out of Arizona and into a contending situation.
The New York Giants rank in the bottom tier of sacks this season, and losing Brian Burns, who had a team-high 16.5 sacks in 2025, obviously doesn’t help. With Burns and Abdul Carter, the Giants don’t need to make a huge long-term investment. Rather, a short-term fix for the rest of the season makes much more sense. Khalil Mack is used to playing for Jim Harbaugh; would he welcome playing for his brother, John Harbaugh, in New York? Suddenly, a trio of Carter, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Mack looks like one that Giants defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson can win with.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have come on strong since hiring Liam Coen a season ago. While they weren’t afraid to let a few high-profile free agents leave this offseason, now it’s time to make a move that could put the 2026 Jaguars over the top. While they’re a top-10 unit on offense and defense, one area that may be able to help elevate this team is by adding a pass-rushing interior defender. Someone like Philadelphia’s Moro Ojomo, who’s in the final year of his contract and is tied for 21st among DTs with 16 pressures this season, could be an ideal fit. Not only could he help the rest of the season, but Jacksonville may also view him as a long-term fit. If not, they can let him walk, and GM James Gladstone will get even more help at getting some picks back via the compensatory pick formula he toyed with last offseason.
The Minnesota Vikings have two good running backs in Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason, but they don’t have a great back like Jonathan Taylor. The former First-Team All-Pro is a game-changing home run hitter who, as Russell Wilson noted, would help open up the offense for Kyler Murray and Justin Jefferson. With the Vikings already being a run-heavy offense, Taylor has the potential to take this bottom-10 unit and make it one that ranks in the top 10. With Taylor’s help, the Vikings may actually develop into a viable Super Bowl contender thanks to the NFL’s best defense and a top-three special teams unit too.
