Skubala confident he can turn form after toughest day

Bristol City manager Michael Skubala says he is confident he can turn the club's form around after a 5-0 thrashing at home to Norwich City.

The defeat, which saw the Robins booed off the pitch, was their fourth consecutive loss at Ashton Gate and their sixth at home in eight games under Skubala this season.

Former Lincoln boss Skubala was appointed in May on a three-year deal and said it was the "toughest day" he had experienced in his career.

"It's the toughest day I've had but I came here to try and build something," Skubala told BBC Radio Bristol.

"At the minute it's not going how we want it to go but I didn't come here for three months to try and get something in three months.

"I'm confident we can turn it around, it's hard work but that's all I know is to work hard and that's what I'll do."

The loss left Bristol City 16th in the table, but on their home form alone they would be even lower at 20th.

Only Burnley, Derby, Lincoln and Preston have picked up fewer than their six points at home so far this season.

Their last home win was a 1-0 victory over Watford on 18 September, and the team have now won just once in their past seven games in the league.

The defeat by the Canaries was also the fifth game out of eight in which Bristol City have failed to score at home this season and Skubala apologised to the fans after the final whistle.

However, he said he did not have an explanation for why the performances at Ashton Gate are so poor.

"At the moment I cannot explain why we're like that at home, why we look so tentative, why we look so passive," he added.

"Away from home we look more solid, we've got promotion form away from home which is a harder job. But at home it's no where near it."

Bristol City now have two weeks until their next match, although that game will see them travel to high-flying Middlesbrough.

Skubala said there was pressure on all of the staff and players to turn things around and he needed to spend the international break looking ,

"I need to look at those players, who the players [are] that can get through the tough moments like we're in at the moment," he added.

"It's pressure for me, it's pressure for everybody but that's the job for me, that's the job for the staff and that's players dealing with that."
