Former New Orleans Saints wide receiver was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday. This was first reported by KPRC2's Aaron Wilson late Thursday afternoon. Wilson reports that Kansas City is initially adding Means to their practice squad. The 5-2 Chiefs host the New York Jets this Sunday.
Means, 25, was a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Saints. He started his collegiate career with the Tennessee Volunteers in 2019 before playing two years with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the last two for the Pitt Panthers. Means led the Panthers with 721 yards on 41 receptions during the 2023 campaign.
As a rookie in New Orleans, Means had 9 receptions for 118 yards and a score in seven games. However, he'd miss the last nine outings of his rookie year with an ankle injury. A separate ankle injury during 2025 training camp with the Saints cost him all of last season. Means rebounded to have a strong training camp in New Orleans this summer. It wasn't enough though, as the Saints released the wideout during final cuts.
After being released by the Saints, Means was signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad. He had remained there for the first eight games of this year without being elevated to the active roster. On November 3, the Browns released Means with an injury settlement. Two days later, he signed with Kansas City.
