The San Antonio Spurs' big free agent signing won't be available for their season opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Tobias Harris, who signed a two-year, $31 million deal, is out with a calf injury.
A 16-year veteran, Harris has been an effective scorer throughout his NBA career. He spent the last two seasons as a key complement to Cade Cunningham with the Detroit Pistons, averaging over 13 points and five rebounds with a 35% 3-point clip.
The Spurs are healthy outside of Harris, as the only other player who'll miss Tuesday's game is Jayden Quaintance, the rookie who's expected to sit until at least 2027.
No, he's not.
Harris does not have a return date set, but Spurs coach Mitch Johnson told The Athletic, “He’s ramping up. He’s progressing. He still needs some more progressing on the court.”
