Former India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma is all set to return to domestic cricket with the Mumbai state cricket team. According to a recently published Indian Express article, the opener has informed the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) himself about his availability for this year's Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament.
When and in how many matches Rohit Sharma will be available to play will be disclosed later. He is expected to join the Mumbai cricket team after the conclusion of the home series against Sri Lanka. The experienced batter is likely to play in the series against the island nation as there will be ODIs as well.
According to an MCA source, as quoted by the media house, Rohit Sharma has asked the state cricket governing body to consider him available for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Because of the national team commitments, the batter may not be able to play all of the matches for Mumbai.
"He has informed us that he will be playing for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and to consider him available after India’s three-ODI series against Sri Lanka at home. How many matches he will be available for, he will inform us later,” an MCA source said.
The initial stage of the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy will start from December 14 to 29, with the knockouts from January 2 to 8. The ODI series between India and Sri Lanka is scheduled from December 13 to 19. The first, second, and third ODIs will be held in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, respectively.
