England will be taking on a fresh-faced Australia attack later this month, with star seamers Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood all rested from the forthcoming white-ball series.
Australia have just completed a three-match Test tour of South Africa, losing 2-1 as each game went the distance, and have red-ball assignments against New Zealand and India coming up either side of Christmas.
The pace trio have therefore been stood down and will not feature across the three ODIs and five T20s against Harry Brook’s side.

Coming off the back of the chastening defeat in Cape Town, Test players Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Josh Inglis and Matt Renshaw have all been called-up for the 50-over games but none will feature across the T20Is.
In the absence of the fast-bowling trio, exciting prospect Mahli Beardman gets his chance in both squads after recovering from a back stress fracture at the start of the year.
The 21-year-old had just made his T20I debut in Pakistan before the injury and impressed on his return in Australia A’s recent limited-overs tour in India.
Nathan Ellis is only fit enough for the T20I series, meaning left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson and Xavier Bartlett will spearhead a relatively inexperienced attack.
All-rounders Liam Scott and Jack Edwards also bolster the ranks, the latter having claimed a five-wicket haul in just his second ODI appearance against South Africa in September.
Highly-rated batter Ollie Peake, 20, will be one-to-watch in the middle order after showing early glimpses of his talent in recent matches against South Africa and Zimbabwe, but like seven other members across both squads is set for his maiden international appearance on home soil.
Cummins remains the formal ODI captain but has only played on three occasions since the World Cup triumph in 2023, as Test preparations take priority once again. His duties defer to his regular stand-in Mitch Marsh.
With Josh Inglis firmly in the mix for the New Zealand Test series, his absence has opened the door for the uncapped wicketkeeper duo of Sam Harper, 29, and Lachlan Shaw, 23, to battle for a debut in the T20I side.
Harper was named the Big Bash League’s player of the tournament last year, scoring 381 runs at 54.42 for Melbourne Stars which included a maiden century in the format on Boxing Day against Sydney Sixers.
Explosive top-order batter Jake Fraser-McGurk has previously failed to replicate his franchise form on the international stage but makes his T20 return for the first time in over a year, following a strong start to the domestic season for South Australia in List A cricket.
Fellow destructive ball-striker Mitchell Owen is also reinstated, while spin all-rounders Nikhil Chaudhary and Joel Davies will have the chance to further stake their claim after making their debuts on the Bangladesh tour in June.
Reflecting on the raft of changes, chair of selectors George Bailey explained: “We are in the middle of a highly demanding phase of our schedule.
“Our multi-format players are transitioning directly from the tour of South Africa into an ODI and T20 series, leaving a narrow window to ensure the squad is physically prepared and fresh for the upcoming New Zealand Test series.
“To manage this workload, each player’s build-up to the New Zealand series will be carefully planned and focused on individual’s physical and mental preparation.”
England announced their two squads for the white-ball series last month, with Jofra Archer and Jacob Bethell returning to the setup though have similarly rotated out their multi-format pace bowlers for the T20I leg ahead of the South Africa Test tour.
Jos Buttler remains sidelined but Phil Salt returns from injury for the T20Is to open alongside the retained Aneurin Donald, while teenage sensation Thomas Rew and young Hampshire quick Eddie Jack earned their maiden senior call-ups.
England play a warm-up match at the WACA in Perth on November 7 before the first ODI at Optus Stadium on November 13. Matches continue until the final T20 in Canberra on December 2.
