The New York Giants have weathered an unpredictable first half of the season and find themselves in a position few expected: sitting atop the NFC East with a 4-2-1 record.
Now enjoying their bye week, the G-Men have plenty of reasons to feel optimistic as they head into the second half.
New York’s resilience was tested early when Jaxson Dart suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 2. Jameis Winston stepped in and helped keep the team afloat, going 2-1-1 as the starter before an early-season trade brought J.J. McCarthy to New York. The former first-round pick has quickly taken the reins, sparking a new look for the offense.
Meanwhile, Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely have emerged as dynamic weapons, giving the Giants playmakers who can change a game in an instant. That talent was on full display in Houston, where New York pulled off a thrilling 27-21 overtime road upset of the Texans.
With the division lead in hand and momentum on their side, the Giants can use the bye to regroup, get healthy and prepare for a crucial stretch of NFC East matchups. The road ahead won’t be easy, but this team is showing it can withstand adversity under John Harbaugh's tutelage.
Here's a look at their record, the NFC East standings and the Giants' remaining schedule as the season continues.
